Pre AP Biology

Below you will find a basic overview of class and grading policies.  A more thorough handout will be given to students in class.

Course Weighting:  Homework - 10%

                                Labs and Quizzes - 30%

                                Exams - 60%

  • Homework assignments are to be turned in by the tardy bell on the due date.
  • Late papers are not accepted
  • Daily assignments cannot be redone.
  • During the first six weeks a quiz can be retaken should the student make below 70 on the first quiz.
  • Exams cannot be retaken.

Pre AP Biology is an advanced course.  Advanced courses are weighted by adding ten percent to the standard semester grade when determining class rank.  Weighting shall be used for class rank purposes only and weighted grades shall not appear on report cards or transcripts.

Criteria to enter and/or remain in advanced courses:  students must maintain a 75 average (not including the 10%).  A student may be moved from an advanced to a regular course if deemed beneficial to the student by the teacher and their grades fall below advanced level expectations.  In order to progress to the next associated advanced course, the student must achieve an 80 final annual average (not including the 10%). For additional information on class rank and weighted courses, see Jim Ned Student Handbook.
