In your child's folder,
there will be a 9 weeks calendar. We will use this as our daily
communication tool. Maintaining a safe and well managed learning
environment is one of my top priorities as a teacher.
Over the years I have used several different techniques.
I started using Practice Academy to provide a better way of
learning the desired behaviors for our classroom. Practice academies are
used for these type behaviors: good listening, workstation behavior,
independent work time, carpet time, walking in line, talking at appropriate
times, showing respect, etc... I want to give our children the opportunity to
practice and learn the desired behavior on their own and give them the chance
to monitor and change their behavior as needed. This technique also
teaches children to take responsibility for their actions and the rewards or
consequences that will follow their choices.
If your child has had a great day, the
square on their calendar will be blank. I may place a happy face or
sticker from time to time. If there is a concern, I will write a note
with details about their choices on the calendar on that specific
date.
·
Every Student will start the day Ready to Learn. They
will earn "Golden Tickets" throughout the day for good choices.
They will be in charge of keeping up with these in their supply box. When
they have saved 10, they may trade them in for a fun coupon choice (ex: hat
pass, sit by a friend, bring a stuffed animal, etc...).
·
If a student makes a poor choice there will be a verbal Warning about
his/her behavior, and a reminder of the classroom expectations.
·
Students who continue to display poor choices will bring me
their student folder and will participate in a Practice Academy.
·
If the behavior continues, the next action will be a Parent Contact along with an additional
practice academy. A folder sign, parent phone call; or an in depth
discipline note will be sent home to discuss the behavior choices. If
needed, we will come up with an individual behavior plan for your child. A visit to the
Principal’s office might also be in order.
**The students have the opportunity to earn their folder back
and not have it signed if their behavior changes and they begin making better
choices throughout the day. If it is an ongoing behavior, I will
always notify you! If you have questions…always feel free to ask
me. We are a TEAM and I want to work together to make this the most AMAZING
year for your kiddos! J
*Parents please initial your child’s calendar each night and return
to school the next day.
