Welcome to my page!

Welcome to our classroom! I’m Richard Cumby, and I have the distinct pleasure of teaching your son or daughter this year—right here in the very place I once called home. I grew up in this community, attending school from kindergarten through high school graduation in 1992, and now I’m thrilled to be coming home to teach where I learned. Both of my brothers walked these halls after me, and my son continued the tradition with his graduation in 2000.

    • Master of Education, Sul Ross State University
    • Doctoral Candidate in Education Leadership & School Business and Finance, West Texas A&M
  • Experience

    • 13 years serving in school administration

Teaching Philosophy

I firmly believe that every student can learn, and that every day is a second chance. In our classroom, we live by this motto, because growth often comes from persistence, reflection, and new opportunities to succeed. Whether it’s tackling a challenging lab experiment or exploring cutting-edge scientific discoveries, I will encourage your child to embrace curiosity, ask questions, and persevere through setbacks.

Family & Community

My wife and I are proud parents of two university graduates:

  • Clayton, Class of 2024, Sam Houston State University
  • Ivy, Class of 2025, Tarleton State University

Together, we understand the journey of students and families, and we value the partnership between school and home. I am dedicated to creating a supportive environment where students feel respected, inspired, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Let’s Connect
