Marian Graham

Spanish II & III

Hi! My name is Marian Graham and I am so excited about returning to school!  I love my job and look forward to my students' successes in and out of the classroom.  This is my 29th year of teaching Spanish and 16th year at Jim Ned High School. My husband Mark and I have been part of the Jim Ned community for 15 years and our three daughters graduated from JNHS (M'Lee, 2014, McCall, 2017, and Malone, 2019). Mark is a retired Elementary PE teacher.

I like being involved in student activities. I sponsor Student Council, Spanish Club, and assist with One-Act Play. I also plan our Prom.

I am available for tutoring in the mornings from 7:45-8:05. My conference period is 9:03-9:52. Please contact me by calling the JNHS Office (325-554-7755) or my email is mgraham@jimned.esc14.net.

    Class Guidelines and Policies:

  • You are responsible for the information covered in class during your absence, even if you choose not to attend tutorials.
  • Inappropriate language and disrespectful behavior is not tolerated.  Consequences include a warning, coach or sponsor contact, parent contact, or referral.
  • Academic Integrity:  All parties caught cheating receive a grade of zero on the assignment, without opportunity to resubmit.  You also lose both drop grades for the Six Weeks and write a note to the NHS sponsor (Mr. Hogan) explaining your actions.

 Grading Policies

Daily= 30%                                  Quiz= 45%                                 Test= 25%

  • Only test grades below 70 may be retaken.  The maximum grade on the retake is 70. Retakes are offered during tutorials only.
  • Homework is due at the beginning of the period.  I do not accept late work.
  • One daily grade and one quiz grade will be dropped at the end of the each Six Weeks if you have no zeros.
  • Make-up Work:  You have the opportunity to do the make-up work for participation credit only. I do not assign makeup work, but you are still responsible for the material covered.  The very next quiz grade or test grade replaces any grade missed because of an absence (school or personal).
  • Participation marks are given most days during class. These marks add up and count as three daily grades at the end of the Six Weeks.  These grades are not dropped.
  • Students who are absent on the day of a test or quiz have three days upon return to make up that grade in tutorials.
  • Two hall passes are given each Six Weeks.  They are yours to use, but I will add a point to your average at the end of the Six Weeks for each pass turned in.

Plan to succeed in Spanish:

1.  Study notes, vocab, or verb conjugations 10 minutes outside of class
     every day-
even if there is not a quiz.

2.  Make flashcards!  This helps tremendously with memorization.

3.  Write vocab words five times each, saying the word aloud while writing
it.  Make sure you have the correct spelling.
