Bus Rules and Letter from Transportation

JIM NED CISD

TRANSPORTATION DEPT.

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Your child’s bus driver for this school year is listed below.  I want to assure you that your child’s safety is our number one priority.  Once the routes are established, your child will be picked up and brought home about the same time each day.  Once the routes are timed, the bus will be on a fairly normal time schedule.  Always, please allow 5-10 minutes before or after estimated time.  This will be caused by students riding or not riding that normally do or bus breakdowns etc. The bus will not be able to wait long at each stop.  So, please have your child ready.

In order to help keep your child safe, every bus driver has specific rules that will be enforced on the bus.  Most of these rules are procedures set forth by the State of Texas.  Please go over these with your child and help them understand that these rules are for their safety.

  1. Students should not approach the bus until it comes to a complete stop. Each bus will stop about 10 feet away from where the child is standing.
  2. Students are to remain in their seat on the bus until the bus comes to a complete stop.
  3. After exiting the bus, students should walk about 10 feet forward and look at the driver before starting their cross over to the other side of the road. They should walk to the middle of the road and then stop in line with the edge of the bus, look both ways, and then proceed across the road.Approaching vehicles should stop while the bus has on the RED flashing lights, but we have no assurance that they will stop.
  4. If the students leave something on the bus and try to return to the bus, the student must make sure the driver sees them and motions for them to return to the bus. This is very important because the driver may be ready to pull away from the stop and not see the student returning to the bus.
  5. Each driver WILL ASSIGN SEATS to all students. There should be no reason for them to get up and move around the bus.Throughout the year, the seating chart could change, depending on certain situations.
  6. DUE TO THE RECENT EVENTS TAKING PLACE THERE WILL BE ABSOLUTELY NO EATING OR DRINKING ON THE BUS!!! THIS WILL BE ENFORCED BY ALL BUS DRIVERS AND STAFF. IF YOUR CHILD HAS MEDICAL REASONS THAT REQUIRE THEM TO EAT AT CERTAIN TIMES PLEASE SEND A NOTE TO THE SCHOOL NURSE AND DRIVER WITH GUARDIAN’S SIGNATURE….
  7. Students that are behavior problems on the bus will be written up.The 3rd offense will cause the student to lose his/her bus privilege.
  8. If you want your child to be dropped off at a different location than home, please send a note with your child to give to their driver.
