Ronda Westfall- Physical Education

Hello and welcome to the Lawn Elementary Physical Education webpage. My name is Ronda Westfall, this is my 15th year at Lawn . I graduated from Abilene High School and several years later after leaving corporate America I completed my degree from Hardin-Simmons University.

I have beautiful twin daughters that are 19 years old, they will be sophomores in college this year. As a family we enjoy camping, swimming and canoeing, anything outdoors, we are there. We have an extremely active lifestyle. We are very proud to be Jim Ned Indians!

I have had several opportunities here at Lawn working with Mrs. Jane Taylor in the special education dept., I have also been the Life Skills teacher. I have certifications in Special Education, Early childhood - 4th grade, and Physical Education. I also have a masters in educational administration. I am very motivated and excited to be here in the gym. I plan on carrying on some of the Lawn traditions, but have also created new programs for your child to excel in.

We have LOTS in store for all of our PE classes this year. We will be working on large and small motor skills, We also will be working on teambuilding skills and trust skills. All students will have an opportunity to lead our classes and leadership qualities will be taught also in the gym. I feel not only being physically fit is extremely important, but emotionally as well. Indians today, Chiefs tomorrow!

Our Programs your child will be participating in:

Lawn Leader Award
A student is chosen every 6 weeks for excellence in participation, attitude, team building skills, leadership qualities.

Daily "Lawn Leader"
Every student will be given the opportunity to lead the class in warm up exercises, with the help of the teacher.

Thankful Feathers
I will be watching for the students who give out that extra effort to go the extra mile, show excellent behavior toward classmates and also students who complete their plates in the cafeteria. These students will get to sign their class Indian head sign and their name put in to a drawing for a "special prize" at the end of the six weeks period.

Big Shoe Award
This award is exactly what it says, "A Big Shoe". Each grade level will be competing over winning this shoe to keep in their classroom. It is won by the class with most accumulative miles and or laps.

Monthly Color Group Award
Award given to the color group that excels in showing a team spirit attitude and shows how well they can all work together.

Mileage Champs
We have several Fun Runs throughout the year. The top ten boys and top ten girls will be given recognition.

Kangaroo Kids- Lawn Leaper Clubs
This is our jump rope program. Students will be given the chance to jump the longest and enter into a minute club. Other opportunities are given in the Fancy Pants division for students who can do all of the different jumps. We also have the Tricky Trickster sign board for the student who can think out of the box and invent their own jump rope trick.

As you can see we have lots going on in our gym! Please feel free to call me at anytime with concerns or questions 583-2675. Thank You so much for sharing your child with us! They will be kept safe and are truly a blessing . I look forward to another Awesome year in Jim Ned.
