Kris Rives

2nd grade~math

Hello! My name is Kris Rives.  I am currently the 2nd grade math teacher at Lawn Elementary.  I am a graduate from Winters High School and Angelo State University. My certifications include elementary, Early Childhood, and Special Education. I have been teaching since 1999 and this will be my 25th year to teach with 19 years at Jim Ned-Lawn.   I have been given many opportunities to teach in a variety of educational settings. I have taught 2nd grade in both private and public school settings, as well as, PreK/Kinder multi-age classroom, PPCD/Early Childhood, and Life Skills.

I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 32 years and we have 2 children, 4 dogs, 2 rescue donkeys, a horse, and several farm cats.  Our daughter, Kasey, is a graduate from the University of Texas in Austin ~ Hook 'em Horns!  And our son, Coalby, is a graduate from Texas State University ~ Go Bobcats!

I am passionate about local history, and enjoy preservation and conservation efforts.  In 2018-19, I received the Arrow Ford Teacher Tribute.  In 2021, I received Outstanding Conservation Teacher Award for Middle Clear Fork Soil and Water Conservation District. In 2022, I was awarded Conservation Teacher Runner-Up for Area II in the Texas Conservation Awards Program.

My husband and I spend our spare time working on our historical 1920's craftsman style home and quick visits to see our adult children.  I also serve on the board for Big Baby Animal Rescue (BBAR) in Winters to assist with rescue from the City of Winters dog pound.

I look forward to having a wonderful year with your child!  Please watch for weekly updates through a 2nd grade Newsletter posted in our DOJO each Monday.  Please don't hesitate to contact via email or DOJO if you have any questions or concerns.  And as always, it's great to be a Jim Ned Indian!
