My name is Judson Foster. I teach 7th grade Technology Applications and 8th grade Principals of Information Technology. I also coach football, basketball, and track. I am beginning my 3rd year at Jim Ned and 8th year overall.

 

I grew up in San Angelo, graduated from Wall High School and then Abilene Christian University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Exercise and Sports Science. My coaching stops include: San Saba Middle School and Boyd Middle School.

 

Elizabeth is my beautiful wife who I have been married to for 8 years. She is a teacher at Young Children's World at Highland Church of Christ. We have two children, Stetson our 5 year old son and Autumn our 3 year old daughter, and a baby girl (Rosie) due in January.

 

I am excited to begin my third year at Jim Ned CISD and I am proud to be a part of such a wonderful community!

Syllabus



Class Description: 

This is a course designed to give you, the students, an overview of Computer Applications including current terminology, introduction to computer hardware, software applications, and procedures. You will learn and develop skills of these subjects:

  • Google Drive/Google Classroom
  • Internet Safety
  • Computer Basics
  • Computer Parts
  • Keyboarding
  • Microsoft Office
  • Google Applications

You will develop your understanding of Computer Applications through readings, activities, group and individual projects, presentations, quizzes, and tests.


Computer Logins

In this Computer Application class you will be on the computer every day, therefore you will be assigned a computer number. The computer number you are assigned will be the computer you are on every day. You will also be given a school username and password. You will have to enter your username and password every time you get on any school computer. 


Google Email Address

In this Computer Applications class you will be given a school Gmail address. You will use this email address in order to access your Google Drive, Google Classroom, and Google Web-Based Software. You will use your Gmail address for your whole middle school and high school career. 


Classroom Rules:

  1. Respect the Teacher, Yourself, and Others
  2. Follow School Rules
  3. Come to Class Prepared to Learn
  4. Respect the Classroom and Equipment
  5. If you don’t know, ask!
  6. Raise your hand to be called on to speak
  7. No Food, Drinks, or Gum in Computer Lab!
  8. Have Fun!

Grading Scale:

A 100%-90%

B 89%-80%

C 79%-70%

D 69%-60% 

F 59%- 



Classroom Equipment Rules:

  • Chairs must have all four legs on the ground.

  • NO laying or sitting on any of the tables

  • Computers are used for educational purposes only, however sometimes you will be allowed to play computer games, only if you:

  • In the last 5 minutes of class make sure your headphones are put up, your computer is signed off, your chair is pushed in, and that there is no trash around your table.


Classroom Breaks:

  • Students are expected to obtain permission to leave the classroom while class is in session.

  • Only one student at a time may be allowed to leave the classroom.

  • Student will not be allowed to leave within the first or last 5 minutes of class.

  • Abusing privileges to leave the classroom will result in a loss of privileges.


Turning In Your Assignments:

Your assignments given in class will be due by the BEGINNING of the NEXT class period, unless told differently by the teacher.


Most Assignments will be turned in electronically through Google Classroom unless instructed differently by your teacher. 


Late Policy:

  • If you miss a class, it is your responsibility to come and ask Coach Foster what you missed. 

  • All missed assignments will be posted on Google Classroom

  • Two class periods are given to complete daily work missed due to each day of excused absence. For example, you are absent on Monday, you meet in class on Wednesday and the missed assignment is due on Friday. If you are absent on Tuesday, you meet in class on Thursday; the missed assignment is due on Monday.  

Discipline Policy:

  • Warning: Student will be asked to stop the behavior.

  • Final Warning and Consequence: Teacher will fill out detention slip and student will serve a morning detention.  A parent phone call/ email will also be conducted by the teacher. 

Technology Devices:

  • Cell phones are prohibited in accordance with Jim Ned CISD Policies, and will be taken to the office if in sight.
